When it comes to hedge funds and the press, don’t believe everything you read

In journalism, there is often something to be said for getting it first. But sometimes lost in the push to beat the competition and get the headline out the first and fastest is the unfortunately lesser-followed yet equally important practice of taking the time to get it right.
Along these lines, headlines abounded a few weeks back about a piece of research (click here to download the report from SSRN) showing that hedge funds “pose serious threats to systemic risk and the financial system.”
