Editorial Board

The following individuals have graciously volunteered their time and expertise to serve on the Editorial Board of AllAboutAlpha.com. In this role, they help chart the direction of the content and services offered by the website and also contribute to these pages on a regular basis. They are listed in alphabetical order.


Miran Ahmad, CAIA; Middle Office Supervisor, Citco Fund Services Inc. (San Francisco)

Miran currently is a Middle Office Supervisor with Citco Fund Services (San Francisco), the world’s pre-eminent hedge fund administrator. His responsibilities include providing profit & loss, pricing and valuation services to several multi-strategy hedge fund clients trading traditional and exotic securities. With experience in both Middle and Back Office, Miran regularly liaises with hedge fund management and actively participates in evaluating emerging client facing and internal company initiatives.

Miran was a Renaissance Scholar and graduated with both University (cum laude) and Departmental Honors from the University of Southern California with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Business Administration. He was a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society and is an active U.S.C. alumnus. He has been a CAIA since 2008 and is a registered candidate for the Level 2 CFA exam.


Dr. Ranjan Bhaduri, CAIA; Managing Director and Head of Research, AlphaMetrix Alternative Investment Advisors (Chicago)

Dr. Ranjan Bhaduri is Chief Research Officer and the Global Head of Research at AlphaMetrix Alternative Investment Advisors.

Prior to joining AlphaMetrix, he was a Vice President and on an Investment Committee at Morgan Stanley where he conducted due diligence and helped design customized portfolios of Alternatives. Earlier, he was at a Canadian Fund of Funds, and at a multi-billion dollar capital management firm where he was involved in all aspects of its fund of hedge funds and structured finance business. He has also worked with two major Canadian investment banks in the Financial Strategy Consulting Group and in Global Risk Management & Control, respectively.

Dr. Bhaduri has held advisory roles at the East-West Center, a leading think tank on the Asia-Pacific region, and at ClassMouse, an early stage software company. He has taught finance and mathematics at several universities and lectured on Derivatives for the Montreal Exchange.

Dr. Bhaduri has published papers on, and been invited to speak worldwide regarding hedge fund issues, and advanced portfolio and risk management techniques. Dr. Bhaduri is a featured columnist of Alrroya  – the first Arabic Financial Daily in the UAE that is also in both English and Arabic.

Dr. Bhaduri holds both the CFA and CAIA charters. He is a member of the American Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Association of America, the Toronto CFA Society, and the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Dr. Bhaduri serves as a member of the All About Alpha Editorial Board, and on the steering committee of the CAIA Chicago Chapter.


DawsonIIBrian Dawson, CAIA; Chief Operating Officer, WingSail Capital (New York)

Mr. Dawson has been actively engaged in the global financial services industry for over twenty years – both as a capital markets practitioner and strategic advisor. In the latter role, he worked as an internal consultant to the founding partners of Strategic Value Partners to establish the operational platform and business processes at the nascent firm, before expanding his role to include Investor Relations. As a management consultant at Accenture Strategic Services and PA Consulting he served as the leading subject matter expert on alternative investment firms. Most recently, Mr. Dawson was responsible for launching and driving the global hedge fund services business at Thomson Reuters. He began his career in capital markets as a management trainee at Credit Suisse where he managed teams in treasury, operations and special projects in New York, London and Zurich.

Mr. Dawson holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, and is an active member of the Columbia Business School Alumni Club/ NY where he is the co-chair of the Philanthropy Committee.


SDeutschIISteve Deutsch, CAIA; Director, Investment Trusts and Pensions, Endowments, and Foundations’ Database, Morningstar, Inc. (Chicago)

Steve works in Morningstar’s institutional data division and is the director of the pensions, endowments, and foundations’ database and the separate account and collective trust databases.

Based in Chicago, Steve oversees these databases and their associated data teams. He plans, defines, and delivers the data points and analytic features associated with each in the firm’s Internet applications. He also oversees original research into these investment vehicles.

Steve often represents Morningstar externally and regularly gives panel and conference addresses. He is regularly quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Fundfire, Pensions & Investments, and Barron’s amongst other print and online publications.

Prior to joining Morningstar, Steve worked at ABN Amro Bank, Manufacturers and Traders (M&T) Bank, and Imasco Limited.

Steve holds the CAIA and CFA designations, an M.A. in Business Administration, a certificate in international management, and a B.A. in political science and economics.


Konstantin Danilov, CAIA; Investment Analyst (Boston)

Konstantin has been an active CAIA member since April 2007, and is Vice President of the CAIA Boston Chapter. As part of the Networking and Outreach Committee of the CAIA Boston chapter, Konstantin acts as the lead for efforts related to Boston CAIA website development and content. He has also participated in the CAIA Curriculum Development Initiative (CDI) working group.

Konstantin is an Investment Analyst for the Defined Benefit Pension Plan for a mid-sized financial services company. He is a member of a three-person team responsible for the investment research and due-diligence efforts for the company’s two-billion dollar pension portfolio. Konstantin’s responsibilities range from asset allocation to individual investment selection with the ultimate goal of maximizing the return of the plan’s portfolio, which includes domestic and international equity and fixed income, as well as various alternative investments.

Previously, Konstantin worked for Bank of America’s Global Wealth and Investment Management Division. He was responsible for the identification, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and ongoing due-diligence efforts surrounding equity investment strategies approved for the various channels of the bank.

In addition to his activities with CAIA, Konstantin is also a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society (BSAS), a CFA Charterholder, and holds various FINRA Licenses: Series 7,6,63,55. He is also the Founder and President of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst Finance Alumni Club, and serves on the Finance and Technology committees of the UMass Alumni Association.

Konstantin graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a B.A. in Economics.


Andrew Saunders, CAIA, Vice President and Head of Capital Introduction, Direct Access Partners

Andrew is the Vice President and Head of Capital Introduction for Direct Access Partners. Direct Access Partners LLC is an independent agency-only brokerage firm serving a diverse range of institutional clientele both domestically and around the world including hedge funds, mutual funds, registered investment advisors and public and corporate pension funds. Direct Access Partners is a member of NYSE Euronext, MSRB, FINRA, SIPC, and a certified minority-owned business enterprise. Prior to Direct Access he held a similar role at EFX Prime Services which was acquired by Direct Access in September 2010.  Prior to EFX,  Andrew was a managing director at Hedge Connection. His leadership responsibilities included Andrew’s leadership responsibilities included business development, client relations, investor liaison, media relations and strategic partnerships. His first position on Wall Street was with Taylor Rafferty, a boutique cross-border investor relations firm. During his 7-year tenure, Andrew assisted senior management to implement all aspects of their investor relations programs including corporate strategy development, IPO/Secondary roadshows, media relations and led 12 ADR listings and IPOs on the NYSE and NASDAQ.

A graduate of Haverford College in 1993 with a B.A. in economics. Andrew holds the CAIA and is a member of the International Association of Financial Engineers (IAFE). Prior to entering the financial services industry, Andrew spent four years in Malaysia and Indonesia as a teacher and entrepreneur.

Andrew is married with two children and lives in Brooklyn, NY.


Dr. Bob Swarup, CAIA; Partner, Pension Corporation (London)
Bob advises on allocations to alternative strategies, asset-liability and risk management, and portfolio construction at Pension Corporation, a UK-based pension buyout firm that offers a variety of bespoke de-risking solutions for pension funds based around the holistic management of their assets and liabilities, ranging from insurance buyouts of all liabilities to the direct acquisition of corporate sponsors to insuring specific risks such as longevity. He was previously at Altedge Capital, a AAA-rated hedge fund of funds based in London, and has a PhD in Cosmology from Imperial College London.

Bob has written extensively for a range of media and academic publications on diverse topics including hedge funds, private equity, investment strategies, pensions and cosmology. He is currently also working with the London School of Economics on Pensions Tomorrow, a research initiative looking into the economic, socio-political and financial aspects of pensions and longevity, and with Bloomsbury Publishing on producing a book of essays by leading thinkers on global finance.
